About the Observatory

Who We Are

The Migration Observatory Lab is a research and policy programme at the Centre of African Studies (CEAUP), University of Porto. We sit at the intersection of academic rigour and real-world action — generating knowledge, building capacity, and engaging with the systems that shape human mobility globally.

An outgrowth of Portugal's Rabat Process chairmanship, we serve as a Knowledge Partner bridging African and European perspectives on migration governance for the 2025–2030 cycle.
